Book Launch for Those Who Knew by Idra Novey, in conversation with Angie Cruz and Emily Raboteau

To celebrate the publication of THOSE WHO KNEW, the second novel by award-winning poet and translator Idra Novey, a night of conversation about collective complicity and the many reasons victims of sexual assault do not report and the vital role independent bookstores play in creating a safe space for dissenting voices and silenced histories. Along with conversation, actors from NYU’s Stella Adler Studio will bring scenes from the play-within-the-novel to life.

Praised by Rebecca Traister as, “eerily prescient” and described by the New York Observer as “the explosive novel everyone should be reading this fall,” Those Who Knew is about a woman who watches with trepidation as the fellow student who assaulted her in college becomes an increasingly powerful senator. Supported by a vivid cast of complex characters, Lena’s journey from silence to action is, as Kirkus Review described it, “dreamy and jarring and exceedingly topical.”
