This inclusive event showcases the voices of five radical queer feminist writers and educators, based in NYC. This reading celebrates the recent premiere of the HBO documentary, The OUT List, in which Wazina Zondon’s interdisciplinary work, Coming Out Muslim, is featured and the release of Red Washburn’s poetry collection, Crestview Tree Woman. In addition, it honors poets Christina Olivares, Anwar Uhuru, and Amy Karp. Their writing explores various themes, including the intersections of feminism, queerness, faith, and spirituality; inherited memory, genealogical meaning, and intercultural experience; and oppression, fragmentation, representation, and politicization.
