“Surge”: The poetry book launch of Michelle Whittaker

Celebrate Michelle Whittaker’s first collection of poetry, “Surge” published by great weather for MEDIA. Michelle will be joined by poets, Ama Codjoe and t’ai freedom ford.

Ama Codjoe was raised in Youngstown, Ohio with roots in Memphis and Accra. She has been awarded support from Saltonstall Foundation, Cave Canem Foundation, and Callaloo Creative Writing Workshop. Recently, her poems have appeared in Narrative, Four Way Review, Georgia Review, and elsewhere. Ama is a two-time Pushcart Prize nominee.

t’ai freedom ford is a New York City high school English teacher and Cave Canem Fellow. Her first poetry collection, how to get over is available from Red Hen Press. t’ai lives and loves in Brooklyn, where she is an editor at No, Dear Magazine.

Michelle Whittaker is a poet, musician and teacher. Her poems have been published in the New Yorker, The Southampton Review, Narrative, Vinyl, Transitions Magazine, Long Island Quarterly and other publications. She was awarded a Jody Donohue Poetry Prize, Cave Canem Fellowship and Pushcart Special Mention. Her first poetry collection, Surge, by NYC press great weather for MEDIA is available July 2017.
