Taylor Mali & Diana Goetsch, winners of the 2017 Rattle Chapbook Prize

A celebratory reading event featuring two dynamic and socially engaged New York poets who come from the ranks of school teaching. Taylor Mali, a four-time National Poetry Slam champion, won the Rattle Chapbook Prize for The Whetting Stone, a stunning and candid sequence of poems on the mental illness and death of his first wife. Diana Goetsch, author of eight poetry collections and the “Life in Transition” blog at The American Scholar, was the Rattle Chapbook prize runner-up for In America, which lays bare the complexities of trans experience with humor, wrath and everything in between.
