The Biopolitics of Feeling: Race, Sex and Science in the Nineteenth Century Book Launch

Author Kyla Schuller is joined by feminist theorist Jasbir Puar to discuss Schuller’s new book The Biopolitics of Feeling: Race, Sex, and Science in the Nineteenth Century. The book uncovers how the idea of sex difference, or the binary division of male and female, was a key invention of the nineteenth-century racial sciences. Schuller’s The Biopolitics of Feeling tells a new story of the origins of the modern notions of race, sex, and feminism.
