The Black Avenger in Atlantic Culture

With recent films like Django Unchained and screen adaptations of Marvel’s Luke Cage and Black Panther violent black redeemers have rarely been so present in mainstream Western culture. Grégory Pierrot argues, however, that the black avenger has always been with us, firing the imaginations in the United States and the larger Atlantic World for three centuries. Pierrot will talk about this and more with Lavelle Porter and celebrate the release of his new book The Black Avenger in Atlantic Culture.
