How can the writing of trans lives move beyond the confessional memoir? Three different writers with three different trans lives and three different styles read selections from current or forthcoming works and discuss together the relation between trans lives and trans writing.
Cecilia Gentili currently serves as the Assistant Director of Public Affairs at GMHC, the world’s first and leading provider of HIV/AIDS prevention, care and advocacy. She is also a contributor to Trans Bodies, Trans Selves and is a collaborator with Translatina Network.
Torrey Peters is the author of the novellas Infect Your Friends and Loved Ones and The Masker. She also holds an MFA from the University of Iowa and a Masters in Comparative Literature from Dartmouth. She’ll have her first novel, Detransition, Baby, published by One World/Random House in August of 2020.
McKenzie Wark is the author of some books, including Capital is Dead (Verso 2019) and most recently, Reverse Cowgirl (Semiotexte 2020). She teaches at Eugene Lang College, The New School for Social Research.
