Foodstockings is the volunteer-run, sustainable community supported agriculture (CSA) project at Bluestockings. Foodstockings is an endeavor to intersect food justice impulses and feminist practices to create goodness! Yup, it’s a more delicious mouthful than it sounds, so read on….
Farms and Food
The food we provide is locally produced. Each week, we distributed vegetables, breads, cheeses and eggs.
Anthill Farm
theanthillfarm.comFoodstockings vegetables are grown at Anthill Farm, which is a certified naturally grown farm in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Anthill relies upon a variety of growing practices - including permaculture and biodynamics - to produce deeply-flavored, high-quality sustainable fruit and vegetables.
Hot Bread Kitchen
hotbreadkitchen.orgFoodstockings distributes bread baked by Hot Bread Kitchen in south Brooklyn. The bread is great, but importantly, Hot Bread Kitchen non-profit social enterprise that works with immigrant women and traditional recipes from around the world. Hot Bread Kitchen uses local and organic ingredients and most of their breads are vegan.
Calkins Creamery
calkinscreamery.comFoodstockings distributes cheese produced by Calkins Creamery, which is a certified naturally grown raw milk dairy in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Calkins is a third-generation family farm that has won recognition for its sustainable growing practices.
Grass Egg
Foodstockings eggs are eggcellent (sorry!) and are produced by a small farm in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. The farm is certified naturally grown, and the chickens delight in ranging freely and in the eating of grass… while their beaks, wings, feets and bodies are blissfully unaltered.
Shares / Cost
Membership for the 2010 season is closed. If you’d like to buy shares and become a Foodstockings member in 2011, we will begin accepting applications again early in next year. Foodstockings accepts payments for shares via cash, personal check or paypal. We also accept food stamps (”EBT”).
This year, we provide four distinct farm shares in the combination of quantities of your choosing:
- Vegetable: Full $420 / Half $240
- Cheese: Full $180 / Half $90
- Bread: Full $105 / Half $53
- Egg: Full $88 / Half $48
There is a flat $30 administrative fee for all members.
